Custom Domains with Automatic SSL
Every RadioSiteMaker site starts with a subdomain like yourstation.radiositemaker.com. That works fine for getting started, but most stations want their own domain — yourstation.com or listen.yourstation.org. Today we are rolling out custom domain support with automatic SSL, and it takes about two minutes to set up.
How It Works
The process is straightforward:
- Add your domain in the RadioSiteMaker dashboard under Settings.
- Update your DNS — point your domain to our servers with a CNAME record. The dashboard shows you exactly what to enter.
- DNS verification — we automatically verify that your DNS is pointed correctly.
- Automatic SSL — once DNS is verified, we issue a free SSL certificate for your domain automatically. No manual certificate management, no renewals to track, no configuration needed.
Your site is served over HTTPS from the moment the certificate is issued. Visitors see your domain in the address bar with a padlock icon. No trace of RadioSiteMaker in the URL.
Subdomain vs. Custom Domain
You can use either option, and you can switch at any time:
Subdomain (yourstation.radiositemaker.com)
- Available immediately on signup
- No DNS configuration needed
- Good for testing and getting started quickly
Custom domain (yourstation.com)
- Professional, branded URL
- Full white-label appearance — visitors see only your brand
- Requires a domain you already own and access to its DNS settings
Both options get full SSL encryption. Both serve the exact same site with all features enabled.
White-Label Appearance
When you connect a custom domain, your site becomes fully white-labeled. The navigation, footer, player bar, and every page display under your domain. There is no "Powered by RadioSiteMaker" badge or forced branding. Your listeners see your station name, your logo, and your domain — nothing else.
This matters for stations that work with sponsors or apply for grants. A professional, branded web presence on your own domain signals credibility in a way that a subdomain on someone else's platform does not.
What You Need
- A domain name you own (purchased from any registrar — Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Google Domains, or any other).
- Access to your domain's DNS settings.
- A RadioSiteMaker account on the Pro plan.
That is it. No technical knowledge beyond updating a DNS record, which takes a single line in your registrar's dashboard.
Getting Started
Head to your RadioSiteMaker dashboard, open Settings, and enter your custom domain. Follow the DNS instructions on screen, wait for verification (usually a few minutes, occasionally up to an hour depending on your registrar), and your site will be live on your own domain with a fresh SSL certificate.
If you run into any issues with DNS configuration, reach out through the dashboard and we will walk you through it.
